Everybody understands that university can be a costly time of students’ life. As a rule it is three or four years of living in borrowed accommodation, paying university fees, and other expenses for books and education without properly earning anything at all for the whole period. University costs thousands of pounds these days and you will almost certainly have to fund the complete period either from money provided by your parents or money borrowed.
Most students, who are forced to leave their native houses either live in the dormitory or rent a flat. The student can usually choose between renting from university and renting from the private sector. Renting from university has its compensations and drawbacks. First of all, it means living in halls which are noisy and less conducive to study than a university provided place should be. But on the other hand, it gives the opportunity to communicate and meet new people. There are a lot of students similar to yourself around you and you will be able to get acquainted with them very quickly.
Living in the halls also gives the possibility of being catered or self-catering. This means that if a student is not able to cook and are a little anxious about taking on all the responsibilities of moving away from home all at once, he can have your meals provided for him. There is also no worry about fees, s everything is included into the rent fee. Rent is usually compensated by means of installments that correspond with student loan so it is possible to meet costs.
Despite all the facts mentioned, halls are more expensive then flats. This is because of all included bills, even your food if it is catered place, and all the other services that may be provided by your university. If you want to save some money on accommodation, what you could look into is finding some friends and renting a flat close to your university. In this case the student is involved in all the problems of living far from hone. He will be forced to pay a deposit and rent on time every month; bills for all utilities will be sent openly him from the companies. Moreover he will be have to cook for himself. It is not very much valuable, but it is cheaper from the financial point of view.
